Cookeville is closer to getting its next city manager.
"MTAS (University of Tennessee's Municipal Technical Advisory Service), which we used as a search firm, narrowed these candidates -- the pool of 145 down to 10," Mayor Ricky Shelton said. "We will, within the next 10 days, begin doing some interviewing --- both some video-phone, Skype-type interviews and in-house, brought in interviews."
Shelton says the interviews will probably occur around the first week in May and will be open to the public. The city is looking to replace former City Manager Jim Shipley, who recently retired after 19 years. Finance Director Mike Davidson is serving as interim city manager.
