A longtime Tennessee Tech University police chief has filed a discrimination complaint, claiming she was forced to resign from her job. Gay Shepherd and her Cookeville-based attorney Henry Fincher filed the complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Tennessee Tech and the Tennessee Board of Regents.
Shepherd served as Tech's police chief for 18 years. She states in the complaint she was forced to resign in June of 2014 because of an alleged "lack of leadership.," and that she endured months of sex, age and religious discrimination from a university supervisor starting in September of 2013. A representative for Tennessee Tech had no comment on the case at this time.
