The search is on for Cookeville’s next city manager, and apparently the position is going to be hotly contested. A total of 145 candidates have already submitted applications through the University of Tennessee’s Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS).
The position came open when longtime City Manager Jim Shipley retired.
Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton told WHUB News Center this morning the city has contracted with MTAS to help identify potential candidates for the position, but prospects will not necessarily be limited to that pool. He says the city will take its time in filling the position to assure that the most qualified applicant is selected.
