It's almost time for the 2nd annual Storyfest in the park presented by the Cookeville History Museum.
Judy Duke, Director of Museums for the city, says well-known storyteller Donald Davis will headline a bigger lineup this year.
"We had, I think, seven last year, including some local folks," Duke said. "This year we're going to have all professional storytellers, but in the last hour we're going to have "Telling Tales," which is going to be an open mic for local people to get up and tell about a ten-minute story if they want to."
Duke says this year's event should be better in all respects.
"We will have a concession stand open all day, rain or shine. We furnish chairs and it's an absolutely free event except for your meal if you go to the concession stand."
The event will also feature a story time for children in the library, nearby. Storyfest runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Join us in Dogwood Park for Cookeville's first annual storytelling event! Donald Davis, among others from the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, will be here to entertain us with many stories. There will also be some storytellers from our Upper Cumberland region. The Bob Mathews Band will also perform. The event is free for the family, so come out to the park and listen for awhile!
A BIG thank you to Cityscape for bringing Donald Davis to Cookeville and a BIG thanks to our other sponsors, Hooper, Huddleston and Horner, SouthEast Bank, Roland Advertising, First Tennessee Bank, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Medley, and Friends of the Cookeville History Museum for their support in making this event happen!
